Artist statement
Kovácsy’s practice intertwines craft, installation and sculpture. It aims to memorialise labour and craftsmanship while articulating an amalgamation of cross-cultural aesthetics. Kovácsy manipulates the material language of timber to discuss contemporary notions of class, religion and privacy. Kovácsy has an interest in hybridising the traditional processes and functions of timber to create new aesthetic opportunities.
